Eco-capitalist
Eco-capitalism is an emerging controversial school of thought in the green movement. Its central idea is that Capital should be used to save the Earth. It would include the use of eco-friendly business models and economic policies. It would also include any environmental policy with an intended positive economic return. An example is rules against overfishing to allow stocks to replenish for future fishing.
Eco-capitalism uses economic logic to solve environmental problems, and increase the efficiency of environmental policies. It advocates for the use of eco-friendly business models and fiscal policies. It seeks creative policy instruments to resolve environmental problems where public goods are difficult to protect. see:tragedy of the commons
Emissions trading is well known example of how the profit incentive can be used to to solve pollution problems.
