Mobitex
Mobitex is a paging network developed by Ericsson. It is available both in 1200 bit/s and 8000 bit/s versions. Mobitex is an open standard for dedicated wireless data and it puts great emphasis on safety and reliability and it's mainly used by military, police, firefighters and ambulance services. It is also used by PDAs such as the Palm VII and Research in Motion BlackBerry.
Mobitex is a packet-switched, narrowband, data-only technology mainly for short bursty data. Mobitex is offered on over 30 networks on five continents.
